Current Compliance Curriculum

Please refer to the chart below to determine the classes required for your mandatory compliance education and training.

Annual compliance training - required for all faculty and staff - begins Monday, November 7. By December 31, you must take two courses:

  • HIPAA Privacy & Security: This class reviews the fundamentals of the HIPAA regulations, including the type of patient information that is protected, the privacy rights of patients, the Medical Center's policies and procedures on how to safeguard electronic protected health information (e-PHI) and how to report your HIPAA concerns.
  • Introduction to Effective Compliance Programs: This class outlines the federal and state requirements for an effective compliance program and how each element assists the Medical Center to prevent, detect, and report inappropriate conduct.

All new hires take these two classes within 60 days of hire, along with the Code of Conduct class. The Code of Conduct is a key element of NYU Langone Medical Center's Corporate Compliance Program designed to promote honest, ethical, and lawful business practices. In this class, you will learn the Code's Foundation Statement, the Principles of Conduct and the methods of Reporting and Enforcing the Code.

How to Complete Your Training

iDevelop, the Medical Center's learning management system, will send an e-mail assigning you your learning plan and log-in instructions. Log-on to OnSite Health (http://www.nyuonsitehealth.org). Click on the "iDevelop LMS" link under Quick Links. Review your Learning Plan assignments under "My Assigned Learning". Click on an item and follow the on-screen instructions to begin your training.

Online learning is preferred, but if you do not have easy access to a computer, a limited number of live classes will be offered. These one-hour sessions will cover both HIPAA Privacy & Security and Introduction to Effective Compliance Programs. View the class schedule here.

These are web-based classes, so please make sure you are logging in on a computer with full internet access. Some shared terminals only have intranet access. If you need technical assistance during the on-line training, contact the MCIT Help Desk at 1-212-263-6868.
