Training and Education

Rules and regulations relating to the delivery of healthcare and the conduct of research are complex. The consequences of failure to comply with these regulations, particularly in the areas of coding and billing health care claims and federal research grant claims, can be severe.

Often conduct undertaken with the good intentions and inadequate knowledge violates applicable laws and regulations. At NYU Medical Center, both the faculty and staff are required to participate in annual compliance training in order to acquire the knowledge and skills to carry out their responsibilities in accordance with all requirements. All new hires are required to participate in compliance training within 60 days of hire. Specific compliance training is also available and is customized to address compliance topics identified at the department level or in the process of compliance reviews. Training and education of faculty and staff at all levels is a significant element of our compliance program.
